Highlighting Spring 2017s Share Your Shutters Winner

Gary Harding

Spring is in full swing here in Colorado Springs, but we haven’t forgotten about our regularly scheduled Share Your Shutters contest. This season’s winner is Tonya S., who submitted a few photos of her home that truly show the benefit shutters can bring to a home.

traditional shutters in dining room

Tonya’s home features some gorgeous new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Since those shutters are shut, you can really get a look at how much control plantation shutters really give you over your lighting. Envision that dining room with some softer lighting; it would be a picture-perfect setting for an intimate candlelit dinner, right? With the right shutters in your dining room like Tonya has, you can express that exact mood regardless of what it’s like outside.

Take a look at how the white shutters complement the white trim on the baseboard as well as the white ceiling. Those matching whites make the black wood furniture and the hardwood floor’s natural color ”pop” even more.

She didn’t stop at just one photo of her shutters, though. Below is another photo she submitted of her new sliding barn door shutter!

rustic barn door shutter

There’s a few reasons we love this barn door shutter. The first reason is that it looks fantastic. The homespun aesthetic of the wood paneling with that sleek black frame above give a timeless yet relaxed look. What we love even more than the shutters’ looks is how practical it is. The barn door shutter sits on top of the window frame, so it can effectively block light while still allowing the window to operate.

Since her shutter sits on the frame, Tonya can still use that deep window jamb, too. For instance, if she wanted to set some flowers on the sill to get sunlight, she’s even able to close the shutter so it can catch some rays while still blocking sun glare from outside.

According to Tonya this is the third time she’s chosen window treatments from Sunburst Shutters, and we want to thank her for her continued support in choosing us for all her shutter needs. For being selected as our Share Your Shutters feature this time, Tonya received a $100 gift card to a restaurant in her area.

Think your shutters should be featured here? We want to see them! Share a photo of your home featuring your shutters using the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or post a photo on our Facebook page. We’d love to feature some shutters from a changeme next go around!
